Whether it's accompanying tomato soup, classic bolognese, or a holiday feast, my sensational Roasted Garlic Bread is the ultimate addition to any dinner table. Each slice of this heavenly garlic bread baguette bursts with the deep, caramelized flavors of roasted garlic cloves, fresh herbs, and salty parmesan, but is made with just 6 simple ingredients!
1(16-ounce) loaf French Baguette, Italian Bread, or Rustic Crusty Bread
Instructions
Prepare Oven and Baking Sheet: Position your oven rack to the center position and then preheat your oven to 375-degrees Fahrenheit. Line a large baking sheet with parchment for easy clean up (optional) and set aside
Mix Garlic Paste, Butter, and Oil: To a medium bowl, add the roasted garlic paste or grated garlic cloves, softened butter, and oil. Use a fork or small whisk to stir and mash ingredients together until they’re thoroughly combined.
Add Flavor: To the roasted garlic butter, add the scallions, parmesan, parsley, hot sauce, salt, garlic powder, and black pepper. Use your fork or whisk to stir and mash the ingredients together until well combined. Set the garlic butter aside.
Prep Baguette: Place the loaf of bread onto a clean work surface. Use a serrated knife to slice the baguette in half horizontally, making sure both halves are roughly the same size. Transfer the bread halves to prepared baking sheet, cut sides up.
Butter Bread with Roasted Garlic Butter: Use a butter knife or small rubber spatula to generously spread the garlic butter all over the cut sides of the bread – spreading the butter edge to edge.
Bake Garlic Bread in Oven: Place the bread in the preheated oven and bake according to below:Bake for 6-9 minutes for soft garlic bread.Bake for 10-15 minutes for crisp garlic bread, or until the edges of the garlic bread are lightly golden brown, and the bread is crispy.
Optional BROIL for Perfectly Crispy Bread: Remove the garlic bread from the oven and arrange the oven rack so that it’s 5-inches from the heating element. Preheat the oven to Broil. Place the bread back into the oven and broil for 45 seconds to 2 minutes, or until the garlic bread is crispy and golden brown. (Note: Keep a close eye on the bread when broiling as it can go from golden delicious to burned garbage in seconds.) (Tip: In my humble opinion, garlic bread is perfectly crisp and toasted when it just barely resists a gentle squeeze at the edges. I bake my bread for 10 minutes and broil for 45 seconds.)
Garnish and Slice: Sprinkle grated parmesan, fresh herbs, and crushed red pepper flakes over the warm garlic bread, if using. Once cool enough to handle, slice the bread into 2 to 3-inch pieces.
Serve Warm: Serve roasted garlic garlic bread warm with marinara for dipping or your favorite meal. Enjoy!
Notes
Butter: Make sure your butter is completely softened to room temperature for the easiest mixing. If I know I'm making this garlic bread, I like to leave the butter out on the counter the night before. (Fun Fact: According to the USDA, butter can sit out at room temperature for up to 2 days.)
Hot Sauce: I recommend using Tabasco if you've got it!
