This post was originally published in December 2015. I made edits to the photos and added a RECIPE VIDEO to show you how easy this holiday cocktail is to make! However, the actual story and written words below in this post remain the same.

Happy Christmas Eve’s Eve, friends!

Hopefully you guys are ready for the big day, because hate to break it to you, but if you aren’t… well, you might not ever be.

At least not this year. Which is totally fine! Because, we can be friends who aren’t doing anything together!

Okay, that isn’t entirely true.

Boy and I are going out to a romantic dinner tomorrow and then I am going to cook us a nice surf n’ turf meal (in my pajamas) on Christmas.

So, we are celebrating… we are just doing it in low key style.

Anyways, since I figured, or hope, you guys have your menu planned out, I decided to share a fabulous cocktail perfect for Christmas or Christmas Eve with you all…

Peppermint Holiday Cocktail recipe

Ya’ll this libation is deliciously legit. It is the perfect nightcap as you kickback and enjoy the company of your loved ones, after you have devoured your holiday meal.

This holiday hustler is creamy, smooth, peppermin-tastic, and has the consistency of a thin milkshake.

It tastes exactly like the inside of an Andy’s mint or like a boozy version of a Shamrock Shake.

Not only is this libation a party for the taste buds, it also is festively fun and gorgeous. Just look at that minty green color!

#SlurpFest.

If you want to get really Christmas-y with it, I suggest adding a candy cane to the glass as a stirrer. And if you really want to indulge, a little whipped cream on top never hurt anybody. 😉

How to make a Peppermint Holiday Cocktail? (Notes, tips & tricks)

  1. If you can’t find Peppermint Irish Cream, you can substitute plain Irish Cream and add 1/4 teaspoon peppermint extract.
  2. The Crème de menthe is a sweet, mint flavored liqueur, and it’s what gives this cocktail it’s minty green color, so I do not advise you skip it! However, there are Crème de menthe syrups that you can substitute if you would like, just make sure you are using the green colored variety and NOT the colorless syrup!
  3. While I used Original (plain flavored) Almond Milk in my Peppermint Holiday Cocktail, you can absolutely use regular milk. Or, if you are looking for an even more indulgent, rich drink, you can use half-and-half!

I urge you to add this Peppermint Holiday Cocktail to the desert portion of your Holiday evening, I pinkie promise you are going to gulp it up!

Until next time, Cheers and warmest wishes for a very Merry Christmas, friends!

XOXO

This was so tasty and a hit at our NYE party! Thanks! I don’t normally like overly sweet drinks, so I was skeptical at first. It was perfect. I did not have the green version of the creme de menthe, so it ended up being beige. No matter- still pretty. I also could not find chocolate hazelnut vodka and had to use vanilla instead. I added 1/2 tb of cacao powder. I imagine it was close enough to the original recipe because it was absolutely delicious.

Looks delicious! Has anyone tried this on the rocks instead of blended? Wondering if that would turn out well.

      Hi LL,
While I’ve never tried this cocktail on the rocks versus blended, I don’t really see why you can’t serve it like that. I’d imagine it would taste kind of like a holiday peppermint version of a White Russian. Sorry I can’t be more help. If you try it, let me know how it goes! Cheers!

Even though I’m not sick and tired of eggnog, this lovely green coctail sounds amazing to me. But indeed I got sick just today, and due to my neck and back pain I will likely be celebrating my Christmas in bed, literally:) Indeed, spending Christmas in bed (aka pyjama Christmas) is my dream. Well, I prefer to be a bit more flexible though. Why am I saying that? I hardly can move so please consider sending something delicious including this coctail to me! Merry Christmas! Cheers. Xoxoxo.
